Shades of Saanich is a gallery comprised of 11 images that I feel represent the natural area of the Saanich Peninsula as it was when the original people lived, hunted, gathered roots, bulbs, berries, collected cedar for carving, constructed baskets, planks and canoes. The land was later claimed by Kohn Wark, Chief Factor of the Hudson's Bay Corporation at Fort Victoria (Fort Victoria was built in 1843 as a Hudson Bay Company outpost). Today it is known as Mount Work Regional Park, acquired by CRD in the 70s.
